It is important to concentrate on getting as much study done as possible at this stage. Concentrate on maximising points in the ‘mocks’. The Easter holidays provide an excellent opportunity for study whether this be personal individual revision, attendance at one of the Easter revision courses, or both.
April 2008
Rhetoric students and their parents should avail of the month of April to discuss and finalise course choices with the Guidance Counsellor. ‘Mock’ examination results should be analysed and the weaknesses, if any, they indicate rectified. Consult with subject teachers on how to improve performance and try to reconcile actual grades achieved with points requirements.
May 2008
Online CAO ‘Change of Mind’ becomes available again free of charge. When adding new or altering existing courses please note that it is essential to enter all course choices again. Remember you are allowed choose up to 10 Level 8 and 10 Level 6/7 courses. Free online change of mind is available from May 2nd until July 1st .
Make sure you have some low point ‘safety net’ courses at each level.
June 2008
Concentrate on the Leaving certificate examinations. As you complete each exam forget about it, you have done your best now move on. Do not respond to perceived poor exam performance by radically altering your CAO application.
