1930 - 2005

1932: A new building containing dormitories and classrooms completed at a cost of £135,000. The Lower Line pavilion erected.

1944:  Clongowes won their first Leinster Schools' Junior Cup.

1964: Sesquicentenary celebrations.

1965: The Water supply obtained from the County Council. Up to this date it was pumped from a well in the front avenue field.

1966: New buildings containing refectory, recreation rooms, boys' rooms and toilets completed at a cost of £3l2,000. The golf course laid out. Oil heating installed in the College. The science wing built. The old refectory became the new school hall.

1967: A new school library inaugurated.

1973: Nine hard tennis courts were constructed. Tarmac laid on the old gravel surface of playgrounds.

1975: The old Lower Line Gallery demolished and rebuilt. This work  completed in 1976. Fourth year introduced.

1976: Fr. Philip Fogarty S.J. appointed as Headmaster

1978: Clongowes won their second Leinster Schools' Senior Cup.

1979: The ground floor of' the infirmary building converted to administration offices. Headmaster’s office moved from the castle to the infirmary.

1981: A new sports hall completed. The Prefects' Chapel, off the Boys' Chapel converted to a Prayer Room.

1984: Boys' Library transferred to the Third Line Gallery.

1986: Transition Year programme introduced.

1987: Fr. Liam O’Connell S.J appointed Headmaster

1988: Clongowes win their third Leinster Schools' Senior Cup.

1991: Board of Governors orders a”fundamental review of the College” to formulate a corporate plan for the College. Clongowes win their fourth Leinster Schools' Senior Cup.

1992: (February)Strategic Planning Group established to draw up a ten-year plan. Fr. Bruce Bradley S.J appointed Headmaster.

1994: A new 10 year development plan launched. In January, a Planning Implementation Group is established to oversee implementation of the Strategic Plan. Eleven Task Forces are established. Planning for new plant and facilities begins.

1995: (Spring)Task Forces submit reports with recommendations. Implementation of recommendations begins. Architect's Plan, led by Arthur Gibney, submitted to Board of Governors.

1997: Work commences on the new Rhetoric block and Refectory.

1998: Clongowes win their fifth Leinster Schools' Senior Cup beating Terenure in the final.

1999: The new Rhetoric block completed and the annual dinner celebrated in the new refectory. Clongowes goes online, with its first official web site designed by Niall Neligan OC 1990. October-- Planning Implementation Task Force establishe dto propose goals, actions and time-frames for furthe implementation of the Strategic Plan.

2000: Work begins on Masterplan to cater for future needs of the College. Planning begins for the Castel-College Integration Project. Draft plans presented. Clongowes win their Sixth Leinster Schools' Senior Cup beating Terenure in the final. CWC joins Headmasters' and Headmistresses' conference. Fr. Dermot Murray S.J.appointed as Headmaster.

2001: Heating system in 1929 block converted to gas. Artificial wicket laid. Condition survey of the south sector of the campus is submitted to the Board.Board of Governors is dissolved to be replaced by Board of Management.

2002: Board of Management appointed. Brief for Master Plan submitted ot architects. Master Plan designed for development of the campus 2002-2014. Plan prepared by Project Managers to facilitate phasing of Masterplan.

2002-2003: Planning permisiion sought for new development. Planning Permission sought for renovations to Castle.

2003: Renovation of the Castle begins as part of the Castle-College Integration Programme—providing enhanced accommodation for the Jesuit Community, enhanced facilitie for the teaching staff, performing arts area, Headmaster's office, College archive, museum display areas, new Serpentine Gallery.

2004: Castle-College Integration Project completed. Leonard Moloney SJ appointed as Headmaster. All-weather flood lit rugby pitch oficially opened. Dedicated to the memory of Vincent Murray (Assistant  Headmaster 1988-1999). New Board of Management appointed.


2005: Fund-raising campaign Clongowes Towards 200 launched. Extensive programme of repairs and renewals carried out including major renovation of the Lower Line Study.
